This is a shell enclosed in a square. like an antique one, enclosed in a stone... A very beautiful motif!

My inspiration start from the shell.

The pattern...

Make a ring with yarn around finger and in this ring: 1 ch, 2 , 2 hdc, 8 dc.
R1: 2 dc in each of the next 2 sc and 2 hdc, 2 tr in each of next 6 dc, 2 dtr in each of next 2 dc.
R2: 2 dtr in each of next 8 dc.
Now start to enclosed the shell in the square. Do not cut the yarn.
Turn.
R3: 1 ch, 1 sc in each of the next 6 dtr, (7 ch, skip 3 dtr, 1 sc in each of the next 6 dtr) twice, 7 ch, skip 3 dtr, 1 sc in each of the next 5 dtr, 7 ch, sl st in first sc.
Turn.
R4: 3 ch (2 dc, 2 ch, 7 dc) in first ch-7 lp, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sc, [(2 dc, 2 ch, 5 dc) in next ch-7 lp, 1 dc in each of the next 6 sc] three times, sl st in 3rd ch, from ch3.
R5:  4 ch, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc, *(1 ch, 1 dc) 4 times in next ch-2 sp, (1 ch, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc) until the next ch 2 sp; repeat from * all around, sl st in 3rd ch from ch-3.
R6: 1 ch, *1 sc in next ch-1 sp, 2 ch, sc in the same sp; repeat from * all around and finish with sl st in first sc.
